The HarborFrost Festival Hits Sag Harbor This Weekend

HarborFrost hits the Hamptons this weekend in Sag Harbor, taking place February 27th, 28th and March 1, 2015. The annual event has become a favorite “Winter Break” for Hamptonites who are tired of the winter chill and ready to ditch their cabin fever with activities for the whole family including Ice Sculpting an a Fireworks Spectacular. Kick off HarborFrost weekend at the Third Annual Frost Ball with DJ Twilo, open bar and unlimited hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $65 for Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce members, $75 for non members. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27

5:15 and 7:30 p.m.
Yankee Doodle Circus
Pierson High School Gym

Bring the family and join the fun at America’s best circus for children. Mike Naughton’s Yankee Doodle Circus is so special you may never want to go home. Advanced adult tickets are $14.75, plus two free tickets for children and teens (available at GetCircusTickets.com). $18 at the door, $6 for children. Fundraiser for the Student Scholarship Fund.

Ice Carving by Fear No Ice

The award-winning Fear No Ice returns to HarborFrost to carve beautiful ice sculptures for the fifth year. Fear No Ice is an extreme performance art ice sculpting company that creates a magical experience that is not to be missed. There will be a second demonstration at 2 p.m. on Long Wharf.

Live Music with Gregg Galavotti
Harbor Books

Greg Galavotti is a Long Island based singer-songwriter and self-described “accidental troubadour”. A talented multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass and drums, Galavotti has always considered himself a singer and songwriter first. If one were to write a recipe for Greg’s sound, it might read something like this: add one part Stevie Wonder, one part Chet Baker, sprinkle in a little Jason Mraz for good measure, let marinate for twenty years or so, and cook slowly.

Culinary Stroll
Starting at Il Capuccino

Sample some of Sag Harbor’s finest foods on this casual stroll through the village sponsored by the Sag Harbor Hysterical Society. The tour starts at Il Capuccino with stops along the way at Page at 63 Main, The Cuddy and LT Burger. $45 includes dining specialties at each stop, with entertainment along the way provided by local rockers Hopefully Forgiven. Cash bar. The tour ends just in time for guests to make their way to Long Wharf in time for the fireworks.

Pierson High School’s Robotics Team 28 will host a bake sale to raise money for their competition at Hofstra University in March. Cookies, cupcakes, scones, breads and pies. Also, Sag Town Coffee will be selling hot beverages and other tasty treats.

Get inside and let the little ones warm up during the afternoon hours as The Wharf Shop, The Rainbow School and Sag Harbor Youth Committee host table games, snowflake decorating and other arts and crafts projects for children. Live music too! Drop-off not permitted.

Remember open mike night at The Corner? Cal behind the bar, Billy Joel’s band members sitting in? Where is Ellen Potz anyway? What a voice! Singer/ songwriter Leroy Klavis reprises some of your favorites, as well as new originals.

Live Music with Alfredo Merat
La Maisonette

Alfredo Merat was born in Madrid, Spain and raised in Bordeaux, France. He is a self taught and ear-trained musician. He began the cafe theatre circuit at age 17 and has toured all over Europe, the Caribbean and the United States. His influences range from Classical and Flamenco to Jazz and Rock. His band, Europa Jam Sessions, which has been immensely popular in the Hamptons, really define his work. Joined by Carl Obrig on saxophone.

Ludmilla is a delightful Brazilian import and over the past 20 years has developed a solid musical reputation, working with renowned MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira) artists worldwide. Carefully selecting her repertoire, she finds new meaning in the music of such great composers as Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra and Edu Lobo, adding her unique sassy, sultry style. Since 1998 Ludmilla has received a tremendous reception performing in the New York area, accompanied by Marcello Pimenta. Together, they give an exciting high-energy performance that is truly unforgettable.

Known for his unique fingerstyle guitar playing and earthy soulful voice, Robert Bruey paints with words, imbuing his songs with imagery that enables listeners to visualize his stories as he sings them. Robert’s live performances are moving and intimate and his recently released ‘Carousel’ CD has received much positive acclaim. Accompanied by Dana Bruey for this special performance.

As the sun begins to set, The Fiery Sensations will perform their sizzling and electrifying show at Windmill Beach near Long Wharf.

The world-renowned pyrotechnic artists are back in Sag Harbor again this year to light up the sky with their extravagant and unique fireworks display.

Host Joseph Vecsey (The Call Back Podcast) is a fast rising comedian and is known for hosting this show at Bay Street Theater for the past three years. Other comics for the evening include Corinne Fisher (Guys We F*****), Regina DeCicco (Gotham AXS TV) and Chris Clarke (BET Comic View). Join Bay Street for the funniest up and coming comics around! After breakfast meet at Mashashimuet Park for an easy-paced two-mile hike. See Round Pond and Fore and Aft Pond and take a walk on the old railroad spur trail used long ago to transport ice from the ponds to New York City and Sag Harbor. Sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt.
