Stan shares, “Everybody deals with anxiety and stress during the winter months. It is too cold to go outside and we end up getting anxious for being in the house too much. As a result, here is a brief list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their stresses, anxieties, and the winter blues.”

1. Take A Time-Out: Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, a person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem.  A person could get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things.

2. Join A Support Group: A person could join a local anxiety support group where he or she could talk to other people about their stressful problems. A person can talk to their doctor or they  could go to their local church or hospital for more information. Many people can get valuable insights on how to deal with their current problems.

3. Exercise: A great way to reduce your stress and anxieties is to some exercise. A person can take a brisk walk or a slow run outside to help get rid of their stresses. A person can also join a local gym or get involved with some local group activities.

4. Read Positive Statements: Another technique that is very helpful is to have a small notebook of positive statements that makes you feel good. Whenever you come across an affirmation that makes you feel good, write it down in a small notebook that you can carry around with you in your pocket.  Whenever you feel depressed or frustrated, open up your small notebook and read those statements.   This will help to manage your negative thinking.

5. Be Social: Another good way to overcome some of your anxieties is to go hang out with some friends. A person can go out to dinner or go see a movie with some people from work. Doing something social is another great way to feel better and get rid of tension.

6. Talk To Someone: Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your depression and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current problem.  By talking to a professional, a person will be helping themselves in the long run because they will become better able to deal with their problems in the future.  Remember that it never hurts to ask for help.
