East Hampton Historical Society will host the 10^th Annual Summer Design Luncheon on Thursday, August 6^th at 11 a.m. at the Maidstone Club (50 Old Beach Lane, East Hampton). The Luncheon entitled, The Fine Art of Collecting: The Thrill of the Find will be in conversation with Jacqueline Terrebonne of Galerie Magazine who will moderate an exclusive discussion with distinguished art and design insiders Eleanor Acquavella, Meredith Darrow and David Netto.

“For the first time at our 10^th Annual Design Luncheon, we are thrilled to present a panel featuring four engaging leaders in art and design. Since the Historical Society has amassed a collection of nearly 20,000 artifacts and artworks, hosting a conversation about the “Fine Art of Collecting” directly supports our mission and educational efforts. Jacqueline Terrebonne has served as Galerie’s editor in chief since 2018, after originally joining the team as design editor in 2016. Her varied artistic interests and deep sense of curiosity inform the diverse and eclectic mix of design, fashion, and visual arts in every issue of the magazine. She has also written seven books on design and architecture with talents including Jeffrey Bilhuber, Richard Mishaan, Stewart Manger, and most recently the firm Magni Kalman. Prior to her role at Galerie, she held positions at Architectural Digest, Gourmet, and Martha Stewart Living.

Eleanor Acquavella is a director and co-owner of Acquavella Galleries, which was founded by her grandfather in the early 1920s. Today, Eleanor runs the gallery with her father, William Acquavella and her brothers, Nicholas and Alexander Acquavella. Specializing in the masters of the 19^th and 20^th centuries, Acquavella Galleries deals in Impressionist, Modern, and Contemporary art. For over one hundred years, the gallery has sold major paintings and sculpture to private collectors and museums worldwide, in addition to presenting museum-quality exhibitions. With almost thirty years of experience, Eleanor has extensive knowledge of the international art market, and she helps to manage the gallery’s purchases, sales, consignments, exhibitions, and art fairs.

Meredith Darrow is a prominent art advisor and the founder of Darrow Contemporary. With over two decades of experience in the contemporary art market, she is well-regarded for helping high-profile collectors, celebrities, and institutions build and refine their post-war and contemporary art collections.

David Netto is a New York-based interior designer and writer. He has written on architecture and design for the The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Cabana, and other publications, and he currently writes the “Case Studies” column for Town &Country. He is the author of monographs on François Catroux and Stephen Sills, and most recently, authored a monograph on architect Rosario Candela. His interiors have appeared in Vogue, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, HouseBeautiful, House & Garden, Town & Country, and Veranda. In 2023, a self-titled book representing 20 years of his own designs was published with Vendome.
