“I am so excited for Jon to showcase the highest of build standards in the Hamptons,” shares Pamela. “His aesthetic and custom craftsmanship will delight those who wish to live in the lap of luxury, south of the highway, and surrounded by agricultural reserve to the west and north on Kellis Pond.”  In our exclusive kickoff feature below, KDHamptons talks to Bognacki about PHASE ONE of the build, which currently includes: Planning, Design, Foundation, Framing, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Insulation, and Drywall.

Anchored by Campbell Equestrian Farm at the entrance of an exclusive cul-de-sac that affronts Kellis Pond and agricultural reserves, this waterfront Bridgehampton estate is a master crafted, sprawling, sleek, 10,300 square foot home which features sun-drenched open living spaces, eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, custom millwork, and the most innovative technologies.

KDHamptons: What inspired you to build this spectacular home?
Jon Bognacki: This build was inspired by this particular lot, which is set on 1.5 acres.  The house is surrounded by corn fields in land trust on the west side and Kellis Pond on the east side, I wanted to capture and highlight both of these aspects as individually they encompass part of that feeling of escape from the city and together it provides something for everybody.  Thus, the design tastefully unraveled to accentuate these incredible farm field/waterfront views as one can step in either direction and enjoy what fits their pleasure.

KDHamptons: How would you describe the style and concept of this home? What makes it so unique?
Jon Bognacki: What makes this home so unique is that it is Completely Custom.  I am applying a totally modern take on traditional design, implementing an open flowing concept that focuses on cubic volume as opposed to square footage.  This will allow the property to seamlessly flow, whether you’re in the home or controlling it via complete home automation.

KDHamptons: Readers will be surprised to learn that you also have a background in science, research, and medicine.  What characteristics of that career have been an asset?
Jon Bognacki:  I was primarily in the medical diagnostic field for almost 15 years, but I’ve always been involved in real estate through various other capacities for over a decade.  As a global manufacturer of medical devices, I was constantly driven to streamline operations while ensuing FDA mandated quality/integrity was of greatest importance.  Balancing streamlined operations and the upmost quality don’t always go together, but I believe that my integration of these, with my objectively defined approach, has been an incredible asset that I bring to building a home like Field of Dreams.

KDHamptons:  As we toured the site, you spoke about the custom “knife” work which will go into the home, please share what that means with readers?
Jon Bognacki: As the backbone of my build is a completely custom approach, I design my own “knifes” and designs to suite the ethos of the project.  Whether it’s the hand built walnut kitchen cabinets, every door, the railings, baseboards, flooring, mantels, and actual fireplaces.  This residence will truly be one of a kind, in every way.

KDHamptons: How did you come to name the home “Field of Dreams”?
Jon Bognacki: Naming a home gives it an identity, as well as an emotional feeling. Field of Dreams was the perfect fit for a name.  It encompasses everything this build is: a masterfully built home nestled between the best of both worlds in terms of vistas − waterfront and farm views.  From the random-width custom cedar shingles on the exterior of the house, to having engineers test the splash heights from the tub spouts, we have considered every high end creature comfort one could ask for both inside and out.

Entering the double height foyer, plans for floor to ceiling paneling and 8′ white oak floors, chef’s kitchen with 3.5 thick Calacatta marble countertops and custom inset hand painted white oak cabinetry are underway.  Opposite the kitchen will be an appointed butler’s pantry and luxurious dining room.

A Nana Wall glass door system will overlook the oversized limestone patio, outdoor fireplace, and 20 x 60 salt water gunite pool, 400 square foot pool house, and a manicured path to your private waterfront access.

Five fireplaces and a spacious Junior Master suite complete the first floor. Upstairs, the south facing Master wing is highlighted with a generous sitting area, interior and exterior fireplaces, private mahogany terrace, large custom walk in closets and luxurious bath. A second Junior Master suite with a private deck, plus three spacious en-suite bedrooms and a double laundry room round out second floor living.

A superior lower level offers a pre-wired home theater, spa and yoga studio/gym, as well as two additional bedrooms for guests or staff. The home is completely smart wired (Cat7, HDMI, RF, IR, Speaker), has Complete Home automation via Savant System, and lighting controls via Lutron Radio Ra Rf switches. Specimen plantings and a three car garage with radiant floors add to the pride of ownership in this impeccably built home.

KDHamptons: You split time between NYC and Southampton with your family. What do you love most about the East End lifestyle?
Jon Bognacki: My wife Shannon and I love the feeling of the stress falling off our shoulders as we pull into our driveway late Friday night with our two children Hudson (3) and Hadley (3 months). Smelling the ocean air and seeing the sky full of stars is a luxury coming from the city! We love waking up as our toddler runs into our room full of energy and delight at what the day may bring: beach days in the summer and crusty beach walks in the winter, strolls through the woods all year long, farm fresh corn from the small farm stands you just happen upon, and lots of games in our living room. Our grill never stops as we lazily move from meal to meal in the summer and even the winter! The togetherness the Hamptons provides our family unit is the real pull for us.
