This week KDHamptons connects with Southamptonite Morgan Shara, founder & president of MAS Creative. A busy mom to Dylan (4), and Jordan (2) [better known as Plum!]. Morgan describes herself as a creative spirit. “I am a creator in everything I have done my whole life. From writing, interior design, to fashion merchandising and buying, I’ve always had a passion for creating. My newest passion is creating high-end custom jewelry under MAScreative, and my jewelry collaboration MASbisjoux. I’m doing it with my incredibly talented partner, Karin Wilzig, and the line is spiritual and derived from nature and magic.” Sound intriguing? Get to know more about Morgan in this NEW KDHamptons Design Diary below:

KDHamptons: How long have you been coming to the Hamptons? What do you love most about the East End?

Morgan: This will be my fourth summer out east. Once I had my son, I knew that I needed a getaway close to New York City. After spending most of the first few years traveling with my husband David [above] to places including India, China, and Thailand, I knew we were ready to settle down. As soon as we became a family, the Hamptons have literally become the place I call home. I am out here [and in love with] all four seasons in this magical place. I’ve laid roots down here in the houses I’ve built under the Guberman Group with my close friend, Josh Guberman. Creating grand estates in the Hamptons has been one of the best experiences.

KDHamptons: Please describe your perfect Hamptons day in detail?

Morgan: Being woken up by my son as he climbs into bed with us, breakfast outside as we listen to music and do morning stretches and meditation and take in our beautiful surroundings. I am all about giving thanks for every beautiful day. I believe you can never be too young to learn to appreciate the beauty around and how fortunate we are to be here in the first place. The rest of the day is spent by the pool, hot tub, reapplying sunscreen doing cool science experiments and design projects, lots of BBQ’s, driving right up onto Cooper’s Beach with the SUVs on the sand (our favorite family spot), surprise visits from the ice cream truck (orchestrated by me of course) and then bed time stories.

KDHamptons:  Do you have a Hamptons “look”? Which designer do you wear the most out east?

Morgan: My Hamptons look is super spiritual hippy.  I always try to wear something with a positive message. By day I am running around in bikinis, a baseball hat, tank top and denim shorts.  They’re all from my favorite spot, Flying Point, and by night I am mostly wearing something fun and fierce from my dear friend Ronny Kobo’s line, Torn.  And of course, I am always wearing some of my fabulous jewels!

KDHamptons: What is your favorite Hamptons restaurant; got a favorite dish & drink you get every time?

Morgan: Tutto is my favorite spot. I love the ambiance of the one in Sag Harbor, but the one close to home in Southampton is just incredible. I love everything paleo friendly until dessert comes and then all bets are off. Their octopus, tuna tartar, and lamb are my favorite.  All of it always with a glass of red wine with an ice cube. Yes, an ice cube.

KDHamptons: Do you like to entertain at home? Who cooks? What’s your “go-to” dinner plan?

Morgan: We love to entertain. I am busy running around making sure everyone is happy, as my husband is busy perfecting his craft with his many cooking gadgets. I have never seen more ways to prepare a mean BBQ dinner. My husband has been cooking for his family since he was a teenager. We have a sous machine, a dehydrator, the big green egg smoker and an indoor/ outdoor kitchen that I had a great time designing.

KDHamptons:  If you could invite any three people to your Hamptons home for dinner, whom would you choose?

Morgan: Well this is an easy one. I would invite my mom who passed when I was 25 and before I started going out to the Hamptons. Perhaps she would be the only one I would invite because it would be so nice to just sit with her in the silence of the moment and share all this beauty with her. She is with me everyday anyway, and I know she is a part of this house even without ever being here. After all, a home is not a place, it’s a feeling.

KDHamptons: So your signature hashtag of the summer is #RealOutEast. How did you choose it?

Morgan: I was asked to write for Social Life Magazine about something I was passionate about and I felt there was enough about fashion, events, happenings, restaurants so I decided to just ‘be real’ and write about staying ‘real’ out here and appreciating the small things which are actually the big things in life. I wanted to touch on the big picture of life and inspire people with inspirational stories and quotes that came from my personal life and things I wanted to pass on. I am really proud of #realouteast, even if its just for my kids to see when they are older.

KDHamptons: Any advice to young entrepreneurs in the Hamptons?

Morgan: My advice is to always be present and aware. Never be sloppy. Be positive. Try not to forget a face because lord knows I can’t remember a name…. and just be really nice. It will all come back to you.

KDHamptons: Tell us about the MAS Creative and Beach Magazine party you hosted on July 5th, at Gallery Valentine?

Morgan: MAS Creative, and Beach Magazine welcomed collectors and guests to kick off their summer season with an Art Southhampton preview and to unveil the latest pieces from hyperrealist painter Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, who was in attendance and explained his unique, contemporary technique. The two new pieces, Mirror V and Mirror Metamorphosis will be on display at Gallery Valentine. Go check out his work!
