On Saturday, July 21, as one of the most beautiful days of the summer was winding down, the action at Navy Beach were just revving up!! Fun families and friends were still arriving by car, boat and sea plane for the Riviera Le Swimsuit Beach and Boat Party at Navy Beach, ready to rock to an evening of live music, win a 1950’s-style swimsuit contest, sip fancy French themed cocktails, shop at the Calypso pop-up boutique, and take in an epic sunset!

“The sounds of guest DJ Sammy, and local reggae favorite Winston Irie, got the guests on their feet dancing in the sand all evening and made Navy Beach feel like the vacation of a lifetime!” shares KDHamptons photographer Katrina Garry.

Hey, we all have to make that tough decision between a day at the beach, and a day spent shopping in the village! No problem for Navy Beach guests because Calypso St. Barth conveniently opened up a pop-up shop [below] just for the event! Offering chic summer style and accessories from the distinctive resort collection, many of Navy’s fashionistas picked up the season’s hottest Calypso beach bag…

One thing is for sure….none of the guests went thirsty!!!! The Riviera themed cocktails were flowing all evening, including:

*the Monaco with Peroni, Sprite and grenadine

*Lillet Blanc Apéritif with Lillet Blanc, splash of soda and an orange slice

*Rosé et Reims with Lillet Rosé, champagne, grapefruit bitters and an orange twist

*and Navy Beach cocktail favorites including the Saintgria Rosa with St. Germain, Rosé, peach and grapes, and the Aperol Spritz with Aperol, prosecco and fresh orange.

Bottles of Breezette Rosé and magnums of St. Tropez’x Cep d’Or flowed alongside Chandon’s Limited Edition Brut Classic 187ml minis…perfect for sipping with a straw [below]!

The Fun did not stop there! Partygoers were decked out in the most adorable styles for the 1950’s-Style Swimsuit contest that took place! Vintage swimsuits of the 1950’s were part of the design inspiration at Navy Beach [below], and guests were invited to channel their favorite 50’s pinup!

KDH Fashion Note: In the 1940’s when the country was at war, fabric was rationed in women’s swimsuits, leading to the creation of the bikini.  One of the infamous bikini bearing babes of the era was Brigitte Bardot, who flaunted the new style on the French Riviera and in the famed flick “And God Created Woman.”

The costume winner was judged by local photographer James Katsipis, well known for his “little blue chair: portrait series and dramatic landscapes of Montauk. The winner won a gift certificate for dinner for two at Navy Beach, featuring a chef’s tasting menu and a bottle of champagne. CHEERS!
