KDH Has Fallen For These Fabulous New Coats Of The Season~ Which One Is Perfect For This Hamptonista?

Three of my favorite jackets from Fall, but which one is perfect for the Hamptons?

Hello KDH fashion girls! Have you pulled the trigger on your new Fall coat or jacket yet? Shopping for a fabulous new Fall coat at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan is definitely one of my favorite September traditions! KDH is weighing her options….Now that I live in the Hamptons and not NYC, should I opt for something more sensible? Or should I hang on to my city chic and go for something I really love? I have narrowed the selection down to the pages I tore out of the Bergdorf catalog pictured above. Here’s where I am at in the decision making process….help?!

[From left to right]

1.  Alexander Wang wool cashmere coat with dyed pink fox fur collar and quilted inset detail at sleeve, $1875: Ok, so I really love the silhouette of this coat. Typically this is my favorite cut for a cashmere “car coat”, and the length is perfect as I never wear short dresses or skirts. I own a similar coat in black cashmere from Helmut Lang that I will wear until it falls off me, and I like the idea of having the same shape in a lighter color. The pinky color of the fur collar is my concern. As much as I DO love a fox fur collar, I don’t like when fur is dyed trendy colors that don’t exist in nature.  I will need to see this coat in person for sure…

2.  Haute Hippie jacket in ivory rabbit fur and brown lambskin, $1295: Haute Hippie is rapidly becoming the favorite designer label of KDH. They opened a gorgeous new boutique on Jobs Lane in Southampton this summer and my sister and step-daughter Lily both wore HH at my wedding recently. The look of Haute Hippie is really “city girl-in-the-country,” so it is no surprise that all of the Hamptonistas have been flocking to the boutique. [KDH will post a separate Fall feature on HH next week!].  I could easily see myself wearing this jacket in the Hamptons with jeans, throw over a dress or layer over a tee and leggings with boots. I love the rich ivory color of the fur with the contrast of the deep brown lambskin to create shape. Lastly, the price for this jacket is really not bad for a fur coat, however, rabbit fur does start to shed after a few seasons..

3.  Altuzarra short zip front parka in gray nylon twill with tab waist and silver fox fur collar, $3385:  This rugged chic jacket definitely looks like a perfect fit for the Hamptons, but the price is very high for parka. Why so much Altuzarra?  The silver fox fur collar adds to the cost for sure, but the parka does not seem to be filled with down so KDH is questioning the value of this tempting item.  The glam/tomboy style is a cool look for the country for sure, so this jacket needs to be tried on…

**So it’s off to the city today! KDH is heading in for a party at David Copperfield’s incredible penthouse apartment in midtown Manhattan.  Come back to see party pix that KDH will post tomorrow. David has an unbelievable collection of vintage magic memorabilia that you will find super cool, including a chair that knocks you over when you sit in it [albeit very gently!].  KDH fell for the gag at David’s last party….. hey, thanks magic man.

Hopefully, I will be able to sneak in some power shopping time today too!  It gets cold in the Hamptons~ a girl’s gotta get a proper coat right? Do you have a photo of a favorite Fall jacket that KDH should consider? Please email me at KDH@KDHamptons.com and I will post it…Thanks readers!!!
