The Other Easter Egg! Chocolate eggs don’t have to be the highlight of the upcoming holiday. Charcuterie boards filled with meats & cheeses are so last year.  This spring, I’m planning a caviar themed SEAcuterie board for our Easter brunch. Check out this stunning example above which inspired me, styled by @thedelicious  – WOW!  Spoiling a small group of friends is my favorite way to entertain at home at Maple Shade. What could be more deliciously decadent than serving heaps of Petrossian caviar to toast the day?  Here’s some tips on how to plan the perfect party as well as inspo pix from some of my favorite caviar moments….

When enjoying your Petrossian caviar “neat”, place a small amount of eggs on the tongue and gently press the caviar against the roof of the mouth to burst the eggs and unleash the full flavor.  The word’s best caviar has a long, lingering finish, so be sure to give each taste a few moments, so that the caviar can impart it’s full range of flavor and aromatic bliss.

A simple dollop of caviar on a chip is a fabulous cocktail bite.

TOP TIPS FOR SERVING CAVIAR

Never be afraid to go too far when treating your guests. Here’s an easy cheat sheet on my three favorite Petrossian varieties:

• Ossetra is a legendary breed of caviar and is universally appreciated for its full, nutty flavor and firm, juicy grains.

• Transmontanus is a white sturgeon caviar that offers a bold burst of brine with every egg. The darker beads are so robust and flavorful it can hold its own within many dishes.

• Daurenki is an immaculate, crossbred caviar which offers a sublime combination of large, firm grains, a clean finish and rich, buttery flavor.

Trout roe (above) doesn’t get the credit it deserves for its crisp, briny zing. I absolutely love this lesser-known roe, and so will you. Pair with blinis and creme fraîche. Treat your loved ones this Easter to a SEAcuterie board by placing your Petrossian caviar orders HERE.

Looking for a beverage to pair with the 2023 ‘Easter egg’? This KDHamptons pairing tip sheet says that champagne and vodka will always be your caviars best friend. Wine expert, Michael Cinque, owner of Amagansett Wine & Spirits (203 Main Street, Amagansett) says, “The perfect pairing for this flight of Petrossian caviars is Louis Roederer Brut Premiere champagne and two different classic Russian vodkas: BELUGA and ZYR VODKA, which are clean, crisp and perfect for drinking straight, super chilled.”

Get creative with how you set the bar. I filled this gorgeous vintage garden trough with ice, and elegant shot glasses with the pretty bottles. Below, is my favorite Caspia Caviar Server which I found at East Hampton Gardens. Have a great holiday!
