KDHamptons is excited to share a unique new scent-story collaboration:  New York Times best selling author Alka Joshi (pictured below) has partnered with LilaNur Parfums, an indie niche fragrance house to bring The Perfumist of Paris (TPOP), the 3rd book of the Jaipur Trilogoy to life with a special edition Discovery Set. Each scent captures moments throughout the book to give readers an olfactive reference that evokes the vivid and multi-sensory story of India – how cool is that? The Perfumist of Paris will debut nationwide at booksellers on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Alka Joshi’s first two books are The Henna Artist (a screen adaptation is currently in development with Netflix) and The Secret Keeper of Jaipur.

During Joshi’s U.S. book tour, LilaNur Parfums will offer the limited edition Discovery Set to help readers imagine the olfactory treasures of India as they hear and read Joshi’s prose. Each LilaNur scent was composed around an iconic Indian perfumery ingredient and crafted by one of France’s most acclaimed perfumers. The limited edition Discovery Set will also be available on Lilanur.com.

Lilanur Parfums, India’s luxury fragrance house, unites social conscience with the great perfume traditions of India and France. Joshi and LilaNur Parfums share a passion for inspiring the world with India’s rich fragrance culture and building awareness of the country’s role in haute perfumery.

The Perfumist of Paris takes readers to 1970s Paris where Radha, a passionate assistant perfumer is trying to navigate her home life while building her career one scent at a time. Radha travels back to India in search of essential oils for her first major project and enlists the help of her sister, Lakshmi, and the courtesans of Agra. During her olfactory journey, her senses are awakened by India’s vibrant majestic flora, woods, herbs, and spices. Due to its unique biodiversity, India cultivates dozens of natural ingredients used in modern perfumery today, sourced from as far south as Kerala’s spice gardens to Aligarh’s northern flower fields.

“I’m excited to partner with LilaNur Parfums. Each of their scents captures the majesty, soul, and flora of my India, reimagined with the best of French perfumery,” said Alka Joshi. “Rose, jasmine, and vetiver notes that I included in the novel are just three of the ingredients harvested in India and used in international perfumes.”

“LilaNur Parfums and The Perfumist of Paris are both focused on the same mission: to inspire the world with India’s rich fragrance culture, and highlight how India’s majestic ingredients play a starring role in so many of the world’s most important perfumes,” says Paul Austin, Co-creator of LilaNur Parfums.“ Our Discovery Set allows readers to have a truly immersive experience and be transported from the perfumery ateliers of Paris to the fragrant fields of India.”
