KDHamptons: How long have you been coming to the Hamptons? Why do you love it so much?

Gigi Stone: I grew up in Manhattan, so I’ve been coming to the Hamptons since I was a little girl. As a child it was all about the beach, summer camp, and going to the Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton. It’s definitely a lot more crowded than it used to be, but its beauty is still intact:  I love the open fields and beautiful beaches, and of course the famous way the light hits at sunset…

KDHamptons: Please describe your perfect Hamptons day for our readers?

Gigi: I wake up and read my newspapers and magazines over coffee [not on the ipad, I love my print editions]. I go for a long run on the beach before it gets too hot, or a bike ride, or take a Soul Cycle class in Bridgehampton. I definitely stop for a green juice and snack at Organic Avenue. Then, I go to the beach with my husband and son and we play and run around.  In the evening, we meet close friends for dinner and have a fun and lively discussion…Perfect way to unwind after a long week at work.

KDHamptons: Tell us about your current correspondent role at Bloomberg?

Gigi: I am a correspondent/host on Bloomberg TV. Right now I am hosting an interview series I created on “Inspiring Women in Business” in which I have interviewed so many cool, local women entrepreneurs that are working to empower other women, like Bobbi Brown, Eileen Fisher, and Jenn Hyman, co-founder and CEO of “Rent the Runway.”

KDHamptons: Of all the breaking news assignments you have covered, which has been the most exciting, or made the most lasting impression?

Gigi: I have had the great fortune to interview so many interesting people from Fortune 500 CEOS to Hillary Clinton to Ashton Kutcher. I love learning from them, finding out what makes them tick, hearing their thoughts on the world and what kinds of work they do to help others. As a news correspondent at ABC News for years I was live on the scene of some difficult and tragic breaking news events, such as Hurricane Katrina. I felt like it was an honor to be able to give the victims a chance to have their voices heard about their plight.

KDHamptons: What is your favorite Hamptons restaurant?

Gigi: I love Sen Restaurant in Sag Harbor and Tutto ll Giorno in Southampton. When we lived in Amagansett I loved eating at the Crow’s Nest in Montauk or outside at Clam Bar at Napeague or getting take-out from La Fondita.

KDHamptons: How would you describe your Hamptons home / decor style?

Gigi: Our home décor style in general is all about soft, rich textures and lots of creams and beiges. I work on it with the help of designer Patrik Lonn who has a beautiful and unique Swedish aesthetic. I love modern clean lines, comfortable, cozy furniture, signs of nature and the earth [I love the Homenature store in Southampton], and big modern oil canvases of calming art.

KDHamptons: Do you like to entertain at home? What’s your “go-to” dinner plan?

Gigi: I like when my husband grills outside, I make a great salad and we have friends and family over. That’s my perfect evening..

KDHamptons: What is your little secret about the Hamptons? [share a secret beach, or tiny restaurant etc] Share one thing please…

Gigi: It’s not a secret, but I love that there’s great art to see, such as the Pollock-Krasner House or Parrish art Museum. I also love the surfing scene at Ditch Plains or catching a concert at the Talk House in Amagansett.

KDHamptons: You always look so chic, which designers do you wear the most out East?

Gigi: I am usually wearing Jack Rogers during the day and Jimmy Choos at night.  I wear Hermes bangles and Jennifer Miller jewelry, Hudson jeans and easy pieces from Ralph Lauren, Calypso, Roberta Roller Rabbit, Dolce &Gabbana, Nanette Lepore and Michael Kors.

KDHamptons: Which new restaurant/hotspot are you excited to try this summer?

Gigi: I am excited to try Delmonico’s in the old Savanna’s space in Southampton.

KDHamptons: If you could invite people to your Hamptons home for a dinner party [dead or alive], whom would you choose?

Gigi: Okay, I will break up my answer:

Dead: Sylvia Plath, Dorothy Parker, Tupac, Jane Austen, Helen Gurley Brown, Pablo Neruda, JD Salinger, Nora Ephron

Alive: Maureen Dowd, Mindy Kaling, Maya Angelou, Augusten Burroughs, Gloria Steinem, Chistine Lagarde, Joan Didion, Katie Couric, Jon Stewart, Ang Lee, John Irving, Katrina vanden Heuvel, John Currin, Matthew Barney, of course it just wouldn’t be right without Oprah and Jay-Z… I can’t stop….such a fun thing to imagine!
