The Hampton Ballet Theatre School Presents A Mixed Spring Program: 'Les Sylphides' and 'The Littlest Mermaid'

The Hampton Ballet Theatre School (HBTS) presents their spring ballet, a mixed program, “Les Sylphides” and the “Littlest Mermaid”. Children from age 3 on up to adults will delight in watching  the romantic “Les Sylphides,” and enjoy the adventures under the sea in the “Littlest Mermaid”.  Don’t miss this exciting spring ballet performance on Friday, April 17 at 7PM., Saturday, April 18  at 1PM and 7PM and Sunday, April 19 at 2PM at Guild Hall’s beautiful John Drew Theater.  Advanced ticket sales for the ballet are $20 for children [under 12 years of age] and $25 for adults for general orchestra seating. On the day of performance tickets will be $25 for children and $30 for adults for regular seating. Premium orchestra, box seats, balcony and group rates are also available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Les Sylphides” is a short non narrative romantic ballet, a “ballet blanc” originally choreographed by Michael Fokine with arresting music by Frederic Chopin. The ballet  premiered  in 1907 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg by the Ballets Russes. Director Sara Jo Strickland has staged this ballet for the older Professional Level  2, 3 & 4  students of HBTS.  The “Littlest Mermaid” is a ballet originally conceived and choreographed by Miss Strickland, and it will feature all the students of the Hampton Ballet Theatre School as well as  Resident Guest Artists Adam and Gail Baranello of A&G Dance Company and Sara Bedell- Spataro an instructor at HBTS.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Located in a kingdom under the sea, mermaid princess, seahorses, sharks, crabs, merwitches and all types of wondrous sea creatures will bring Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale alive. The whimsical costumes are  designed  by Yuka Silvera, luminescent lighting is designed by Sebastian Paczyynski and a seaworthy set design is by Miss Strickland.
