Thanksgiving weekend in Montauk offers a variety of events, all family friendly.  KDHamptons shares nine neat ways to celebrate turkey day:

1. The Annual Run for Fun/Turkey Trot on 11/26/15 starts at 8:00 am. Show up at the Village Green between 8-9:30 am to check-in for three or six mile races around town. Sponsored by the East Hampton Town’s Dept. of Parks and Recreation. Pre-registration is not necessary. The cost to enter is $10. The first 300 Participants receive a commemorative t-shirt. 2. The Montauk Playhouse Foundation – 11/27/15 – The talented Liz Joyce and a Couple of Puppets with her Goat on a Boat Puppet Theater perform “The Princess, the Frog & the Pea” at the Montauk Playhouse, 240 Edgemere St. Playhouse at 3p m. Cost: $8 children, $10 adults. Crafts to follow. All ages.

3. The Annual Family Holiday Fun Day sponsored by The Montauk Chamber of Commerce and Camp Soulgrow hosted by Montauk Yacht Club – 11/28/15, 1 to 3 pm at the Montauk Yacht Club. This is a free event for youngsters to create holiday crafts and tree ornaments. There is Christmas Karaoke, along with cider, cookies and plenty of good cheer!

4. The Montauk Community Church Christmas Fair -11/28/15- 9 am – 2 pm. Silent auction, Christmas decorations, new and used toys, handmade rugs and other gifts. SANTA arrives at 11 am! Refreshments sold.

5. The Montauk Library Holiday Book Sale – 11/28/15 – 10 am to 3 pm Gift Books, art books, cookbooks, children’s books, decorations, jewelry and much more!

6. The 8th Annual Lighting of The Lighthouse – 11/28/15, the Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend. Lighthouse Lighting takes place between 4:30 pm and 7 pm. Rain date is 12/5/15. Parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds are free. Includes holiday music and caroling. Santa makes an appearance. The lights are turned on by a special guest and remain on every night until January 1, 2016.

7. Sunday Christmas at the Lighthouse – 11/29/15, Enjoy Christmas at the Lighthouse with Santa. The Lighthouse, decorated for the holiday, serves hot cider and snacks. The Gift Shop is open for holiday shopping. Pony rides are available for young children, and children can be photographed with a jolly Santa. Admission to the museum is free during this event. The tower climb is closed. Rain Date: December 6th.

8.  Save the Date! Montauk’s Businesses are getting ready for the annual “Star Bright” Storefront lighting–all to be ready by December 10th, judging to take place on December 14th.

9. East End Pop Ups is holding its first pop up this holiday season at the American legion hall in amagansett! Dates are November 28th and December 19th. Vendors will include Billy Wolf, FIN Montauk, ArtbyA, James Katsipis photography, hamptons hand poured and many others.
