Living overseas as a child, Southampton artist Jennifer de Klaver, was exposed to many famous works of art at a young age. Her love of color and design was influenced by her mother who is a painter, her love of the ocean and travels throughout Europe as a kid. As an adult she has spent summers in the East End of Long Island where she has been greatly influenced by the natural beauty of the area.

This series of work delves into the layers that are present in all the moments of life. Each piece is a combination of either words, texture or color inspired by inner emotions and the beauty of the Long Island area. The medium is acrylic on canvas. For Jennifer, the canvas acts as a journal – whether through words or color – a way to express freely and wholly on what to her is RELEVANT.

Carole Reed shares, “I am curating the show after years of friendship and awe of Jennifer’s graphic talents and creativity. She is a strong female force. The work is a hurricane of emotion wrapped in a fine ribbon.”

Location: 95 main st Southampton 11968; 7-9 pm on Saturday July 9th
