CALLING ALL KDHAMPTONS RUNNERS!

The Fourth Annual Hither Hills Off-Road Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, May 6 to benefit Paddlers for Humanity, a Hamptons not-for-profit that donates to local and global charities dedicated to children and youth.

The race begins at Eddie Ecker County Park at 9 a.m. The first seven miles are challenging – stemming from the name, Hither Hills – but the final six miles are reasonably gentle and rolling. Two-person teams are welcome and will hand off 6.2 miles into the race at the West Hither Hills Overlook. Renee Meier, a past participant “loved the race. It was so much fun!”

All runners must register and the race is limited to 75 participants. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. Pre-registration entry fee is $65 per person or $100 per two-person relay team. Register online at http://bit.ly/HhvMBK. Online registration deadline is Saturday, May 5. Day-of event entry fee is $85 per person or $150 per two-person relay team.

Monies raised at this event will be donated to Long Island Communities of Practice (LICOP) (www.licop.org), offering educational, social and recreational programs to children with disabilities, and the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society (EHTPS) (www.ehtps.org), dedicated to the protection and preservation of East End trails, for the third year in a row. “EHTPS operated on a very tight budget, which includes significant costs for maintaining our own trails. P4H’s contribution will go a long way toward fulfilling our mission,” says Jim Zajac, president of EHTPS.

Paddlers for Humanity (P4H) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) local non-profit organization and raises funds and awareness for worthy, nonprofit organizations that focus on children and youth. Grants are awarded on an as-needed project basis with funds raised through sporting adventures and challenges.
