We had the best time at the at the Top Chef’s 2011 Great Chefs Dinner for the Hayground School in Bridgehampton, on Sunday July 31. There was a fun “Meet the Chefs” cocktail party which had tasting stations, a silent art auction, and live music. Afterwards, there was a VIP dinner in Jeffs Kitchen and all the proceeds benefitted the Hayground School. One of the coolest chefs we met was Matthew Michel, founder of Rolling in Dough Pizza Co., a mobile pizza truck with a wood-fired oven that caters parties on Long Island. Matt’s pimped out pizza truck is custom made, restored 1943 International Harvester.

Matt got the idea for his pizza truck in the summer of 2007 when his sister had a pizza truck at her rehearsal dinner. A light bulb went off and Rolling in Dough was conceived. Word of mouth has catapulted Matt’s business on the East End and his team puts on more than hundred parties in the summer season.

The posh pizza truck offers myriad tasty toppings, including: bacon, shitake mushrooms, shaved artichokes, and garlic, but Matt’s favorite is the meatball and olive combo. Check out this exclusive KDH video of Matt making a mash potato and corn pizza at the party~ it was sooo delcious!
