Sag Harbor resident Blair Clarke travels to Mexico with husband Alistair, and their gorgeous girls Poppy & Georgina

WOW!! More fantastic KDHamptons Travel Diaries keep flying in from haute Hamptonites who escaped the East End winter season by jetting off on fantastic adventures around the globe. This week, I heard from our friend Blair Clarke who manages an art consultancy company that promotes international emerging artists.

Blair tells KDH, “We basically act as a virtual gallery, therefore, you will find us through pop up exhibitions and our website, www.voltzclarke.com. Many of our projects are intertwined with the fashion world, as we find one can’t exist without the other.” Blair takes a break from her gallery to share a KDHamptons Travel Diary from her family vacation to Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, surrounded by Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and situated along a mile-long arc of white Caribbean sand.  Enjoy Blair’s fam glam fam travel diary below:

Blair, Poppy and Georgina share some fun in the sun

Blair shares: “Ohhh M E X I C O…I’ve never really been but I’d sure like to go… I love that James Taylor song as corny as that sounds! I actually have been to Mexico, but not since many moons ago when my eight best high school friends went to Cozumel for our graduation. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was hoping for a few different sites than that crazy trip! Fast forward, and a LOT of years later, this time my luggage was packed with a husband and two young daughters eager to see sand, sun, and the sea. It was snowing when we left Manhattan, and after a quick four hour flight we arrived to 89 degree  gorgeous temperatures and so much more….

Rosewood Mayakoba resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico

I loved the indigenous Mexican plantings and flowers, says Blair

Our home for the next seven days was the Rosewood Mayakoba [above], a topclass hotel arranged among eco- friendly mangrove framed lagoons, exotic Mexican foliage and white powdered sand. Our girls were immediately pleased with the festive pink rose they were given upon arrival at the airport. Fast forward, an hour later we embarked on a  elegant 30-foot teak-lined boat [below] which deposited us at our beach front charming suite [below] with the most relaxing plunge pool. Estimated time from the bed to the sea, ten seconds....Heaven!

Forget bellman~ A boatsman escorted us to our beautiful suite!

The breathtaking beach front suite

For the next few days, we indulged in way too many chunky guacamole appetizers and frozen strawberry margaritas. We immediately made friends with Solomon, the pool butler who appeared frequently with passed treats from Mexican candy, to mini key lime sorbet, and expressed cucumber facials [below].

Mexican afternoon delights

Our girls loved the kids club where they attended pirate parties, manicure sessions, pottery painting and necklace stringing contests [below]. I adored the charming ‘bus stop’ outside our door. The friendly golf cart drivers whisk guests to the various pools, gym, spa and any of the three tasty restaurants.

The activities planned for our kids were a highlight of the trip

Our "bus stop" outstide the villa

The glorious gourmet options at the resort were amazing. While the breakfast ensemble of fresh exotic fruits and yogurt caught our eye,  yet we couldn’t miss the gummy worms offered to top the massive pancakes [below].  Ahhhh vacation….ONLY on vacation!

I'd eat yogurt for breakfast every morning with fixings like this!

Lunch with our NYC pals

Sweet surprise? The gummy worms were the "perfect" topping for pancakes according to my girls!

Only one day did we venture from our relaxing Mayakoba post for a field trip. We explored the Mayan ruins at Tulum, held a multi-colored two foot long Iguana [below] and shopped in the festive Playa del Carmen market where we found souvenirs for teachers and colorful summer dresses [below].

Did I really help hold this two foot long Iguana???

I can't wait for the girls to wear their market dresses from Playa del Carmen this summer!

One day we bumped into some friends from New York and had a festive catch up lunch by the pool. We napped, read, rested, found interesting shells, swam, rested, ate, rested, ate, rode bikes, the girls got their faces painted [below], and then we rested some more….

Snack time!

In the end, our family Spring Break was much more ‘James Taylor’ style than my high school graduation excursion. Exactly the sejour we were hoping for. We arrived back at JFK as the wet March snow started to fall.  Adios Rosewood MayaKoba!!

Night falls over our serene vista....we had no clue we were headed home to more snow!
