BRIDGEHAMPTON POLO CLUB CLOSES ITS 17th SEASON AS WHITE BIRCH FARM TAKES THE WIN OVER HEATHCOTE 15-12!

 

 

Thousands of spectators were on hand as Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm beat a talented Heathcote team 15-12 to close out the 17th season at the Bridgehampton Polo Club. The sunny afternoon boasted beautifully dressed crowds, sipping rosé and nibbling on summer bites as they cheered on their favorite players.

Movie producer Andrew Lauren, whose film The Spectacular Now hits theatres nationwide on August 28th, tossed the coin to kick-off the match as 11-year-old Tess DiMenna’s rendition of the national anthem had the crowd on their feet.  Guests included: Georgina Bloomberg, Campion and Tatiana Platt, Donna Karan, Gabby Karan de Felice, Kevin Mambo, Kelly Klein, Patrick McMullan, and Peter Brant Jr.

Closing day presenting partner Ferrari North America kicked off the day with a road rally of nearly 60 Ferraris which began in Battery Park City and ended at Two Trees. Other season-long partners included: Burgess Yachts, Gotham Jets, LaCroix Sparkling Water, Town & Country, Lancôme, Bertaud Belieu, Polo Gear and Beluga Vodka.

Among those enjoying sparkling wine and crisp chilled glasses of rose under the VIP Ferrari tent included: Jamee and Peter Gregory, Helen Schifter,  Campion and Tatiana Platt, Avis and Bruce Richards, Elizabeth and John Kurpis, Gigi Stone, Steve Hopkins,Donna Karan and her daughter Gabby de Felice, U.S. Open hopeful Bobby Reynolds, and the Jr. and Sr. Peter Brants, the latter of whom excited the crowd with his on-field play.

The season, comprised of six consecutive Saturdays, kicked off on July 20th and ran through August 24th, 2013. White Birch Farm won the match over Heathcote 15-12, advancing to Tuesday’s Hamptons Cup finals against La Lechuza.  Matt Emerson, Director of the Americas for Burgess Yachts, presented Mariano Aguerre with the MVP award.  Millie Becker, Founder of Gotham Jets, awarded Aguerre’s mare, Jackie, with Best Playing Pony honors.
