NEW KDHamptons Lifestyle Diary: "Blonde In The Boro" Blogger, Madge Allison

Whalebone MagKDHamptons loves discovering fun new Hamptons friends on Instagram, case in point: Madge Allison aka @blondeintheboro, a self-described “single and out to mingle 25-year-old blonde; hustling in Manhattan and chilling in Montauk.”  During the week, Madge works for a men’s fashion label and on her blog BlondeintheBoro, but on the weekends you’ll find her working on her MTK bronze, while scrolling through Insta, and burning calories on the dancefloor at any given opportunity…

KDHamptons: When you aren’t having fun in the Hamptons, what do you do for work?
Madge Allison: I work as a wholesale sales exec at a growing men’s underwear company. Guys want to look good underneath it all too! In my few cherished moments of “free time” – I’m working on my blossoming blog & Instagram account @blondeintheboro. This serves as my creative outlet because the fun can often be lost in the art of fashion when it comes down to business.

KDHamptons: How long have you lived in New York City and summered in Montauk?
Madge Allison: I’ve been living in the city since I graduated college from Fairfield University four years ago – starting a new life in Manhattan solo with one goal in mind – to make it in the fashion industry. Rewards to myself such as being able to summer in Montauk keep me chugging along; nose to the grindstone. I’ve seen my goals become a reality even in the short time I’ve been a part of the NY rat race, and having MTK as a light at the end of the tunnel has keeps me focused during the work week.

KDHamptons: What makes Montauk so special to you?
Madge Allison: What I love most about MTK (aside from the incomparable sunsets) is the work ethic of the local people and sense of community. I see values similar to those of my own in the hard-working people of this town – using their resources – combined with quirky creativity – to form a business and make a sustainable living all while enjoying life to its full extent.
I’ve also met all of my closest friends out in Montauk.  I keep in touch with most year round and each summer serves as a reunion – we’re all like family with our love for MTK being the common denominator amongst us.

KDHamptons: Where do you stand on all of the new party regulations put in place by the town?
Madge Allison: Raised in a small beach town in CT which is also overrun by tourists in the summer, I can relate to the escalated frustration expressed by the locals as Montauk’s popularity has reached an all-time high. Although a controversial topic, I’m confident that the strict enforcements put in place by East Hampton authorities will at least eliminate a majority of the unnecessary riff raff caused by young “one-timers” blowing through town. Montaukets take pride in their territory and RESPECT is the name of the game. #MakeMontaukGreatAgain

KDHamptons: Zip us through your perfect Montauk day?
Madge Allison: No alarm set; I like to wake up as I please. I’m on island time out East. Starting my day grabbing some caffeine at Left Hand Coffee in town. How do I take it? With Macademia Nut Milk obviously…stuff’s insane give it a try. Before it gets too hot I go for a run – preferably discovering a new and sometimes unused route. Gotta keep the bikini bod in check. I then round up some friends for a rendezvous at Gurney’s Beach Club – spending the day sunbathing and dancing adjacent to our cabana and cooling off in the waves. Some of my fave beats were first heard here being spun by resident DJ Nicole Leone.  In the evening, we catch the sunset at Surf Lodge, and come midnight you’ll find me on the dance floor no doubt, either at Surf Lodge or off to Grey Lady MTK for a change of scenery. Late night perhaps a pit stop by Memory Motel, but goal is to avoid 7/11 at all costs. Taquitos = no bueno for the bod.

KDHamptons: Where are you TOP THREE spots for a summer cocktail?
Madge Allison: 1. Strawberry Fields Cocktail poolside at the Montauk Beach House
2. Rosemary Citrus Spritz w/ a side of sunset at Navy Beach
3. Opt for a Mudslide in place of dessert at Liars Saloon

KDHamptons: What’s a secret about Montauk to share with KDHamptons readers?
Madge Allison:  Take a run around sunset to the Montauk Burial Grounds – the view from the bluffs just west of the Montauk Manor are slightly eerie and indefinitely breathtaking. Whether meditating, “Instagraming”, or catching your breath – you’ll find yourself at total peace and questioning, “Wait, where am I again?” I like to think this is the ultimate view from “the End of the World”.
