The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack will host the ‘Much Ado About Madoo’ benefit this weekend, on Saturday June 14th. This is always one of my favorite events of the summer. Alejandro Saralegui, Director of The Madoo Conservancy shares, “What makes Madoo so magical is its poetic and romantic nature.” If you have never visited these magical gardens be sure to put Madoo on your TO-DO list. The weekend events at Madoo include: a cocktail party kick-off, a garden market, North Fork Table and Inn lunch truck, lectures, perfume bottling event and much more. The Madoo Conservancy is located next to the Foster farm in Sagaponack off Main Street.

In 1967 artist Robert Dash purchased the farmland when NY artists were migrating out east. He called it Madoo, which is an old Scottish word meaning “my dove”. With a keen vision he turned the nondescript land into a series of eye catching, whimsical gardens and the old farm house became his home and painting studio. Madoo became a nonprofit foundation with a focus on study, preservation, and enhancement of Madoo. When Dash died, his extensive garden library, decorative arts collections, and artwork by his contemporaries and his own works were transferred to the Conservancy.

Alejandro [below] shares, “Much Ado About Madoo is our signature event, and this year we will have amazing activities all weekend long; it’s our way of saying thank you to our devoted members, and a great inducement for new people to join the Madoo Conservancy.”
