Matchbooks, Luggage Tags & Love Letters: London-Based Artist Charlie Child Launches "Napkin Notes"
London-based writer, poet, and artist Charlie Child has just launched a new creative project: Napkin Notes, a playful art series that blends poetry, travel, and luxury. Charlie has spent over a decade crafting verses for prestigious brands like Tiffany & Co., Belmond Hotels, and Connolly, with his work gracing private members’ clubs, parties, and events everywhere from the Amalfi Coast to Cape Town to Bermuda – and, of course, the Hamptons. Charlie’s Hamptons collection includes 24 designs featuring east end hero locations, including: Le Bilboquet, Sant Ambroeus, Duryea’s, Clam Bar, and more. His signature style has been celebrated by the BBC, Tatler, Who What Wear, and The Wedding Edition.
This year, Charlie has released a new collection of art prints, called Napkin Notes. A worldwide vision that celebrates travel, laughter, and memory, each print is made from everyday items found in the world’s most beloved hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Using found items like coasters, luggage tags, and matchbooks as his canvas, Charlie has written poems, one-liners, and bits of dialogue, adding hand-drawn illustrations that bring each memento to life.
Charlie’s debut show for the Napkin Notes series will take place at the private members’ club Tramp in London during Frieze week, offering a first look at the collection before it makes its way across the globe.
