KDHamptons:  Where does your love affair with linen come from?

Jane Scott Hodges: Like my mom, and grandmother before me, I have always adored, collected, and used fine linens.  Old, lustrous ones found in flea markets — if they have meticulous monograms, all the better!  From the bedroom and bath, to the dining table and kitchen, they linens add something lovely and unique to the home.  Classic or modern, casual or formal, crisply pressed or nonchalantly rumpled, linens are uniquely adaptable to the way you live and decorate and the surest way to put a personal stamp on your home.

KDHamptons:  What are your favorite pieces for each room in the house?

Jane: Okay, here goes…

1.  For the bed – the body pillow is the antidote to your pillow addiction. One singular, elongated pillow replaces the dozens of euros and throw pillows, for a clean, tailored look; not to mention no more digging to find your way to the mattress at the end of a long day.

2. For the bath – the quilted bath mat is a life-saver.  Two pieces of terry quilted together, it is plush and luxurious but, unlike your typical bath rug, completely washable.

3. For the table – the square placemat is simply the best thing that has happened to my dining room table.  It not only acts as a charger under the china, it allows for a more intimate table setting that the oblong versions do not.
