Dr. Jeffrey Rappaport Shares 6 tips for Achieving the Perfect Summer Smile

1. Take precautions against a lackluster smile by drinking your beverages through a straw.
2. Rinse your mouth with water (warm or cool) right after indulging in coffee to avoid staining your teeth.
3. Colas, even diet ones, can make your smile dingy. Seltzer and clear liquors will preserve your pearly whites.
4. Substitute your fruity margarita cocktails. Sure it has anti-oxidants, but the fruit will stain your smile. Straight up lime — the classic — is the better choice.
5. Pack your toothbrush. We all have cravings, so if you must have that pasta sauce, take along your toothbrush to quickly get rid of stain-causing residue.
6. Have gum for desert, it increases moisture in your mouth which can help rinse away offensive stains. We recommend it be sugarless and has Xylitol in it.
