Doc and I recently went for a cocktail and dinner at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton. We usually sit in the main dining room, but it was a very cold, rainy night so we decided to eat at the bar in front of the fireplace. It was great because there was nobody else at the bar and we got to know our super fun bartender [and former Marine!], Danny Zuleta. As all top shelf bartenders should, Danny tells a great story and makes a mean cocktail!

Doc decided to order one of his favorite drinks~ a Bourbon Old Fashion, which I don’t know how to make, so I decided to videotape Danny’s expertise. Thirsty yet? Click on the top photo to play the video of his secret recipe. THANKS DANNY~ CHEERS!

Doc reviews the specialty cocktail menu, then zeros in on an Old Fashion.

Bartender Danny Zuleta is a superstar behind the bar. Here, he sets out the main ingredients for the Old Fashion.

There’s no question, our favorite new restaurant this season is Topping Rose House. Built in 1842 for its namesake, Judge Abraham Topping Rose and his family, the gorgeous Greek Revival style mansion – one of the few remaining in the area – has been carefully restored to honor its antique elements while creating a modern space which caters to retreats, weddings, private parties, or a romantic dinner date night at ubër chef Tom Colicchio’s restaurant!

KDH ordered the White Bean Agnolotti~ heaven!

Doc ordered the Spicy Bucatini with Lobster.

The warm fire and lots of laughs kept us cozy.
