KDHamptons was thrilled to recently preview the legendary Kips Bay Decorator Show House.  Now in its forty-fifth year, the internationally-recognized Kips Bay Decorator Show House, hosted by New York’s premier youth organization, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, is located at 125 East 65th Street in New York City’s iconic Lenox Hill neighborhood.  This year’s show is so fabulous, all of the designers knocked it out of the park.  Don’t miss it!  Here are some of my favorite rooms from my tour.

The four story, neo-Georgian style red brick home boasts charming views of townhouse gardens and nearby architectural cathedrals. Built in 1905, the grand residence was designed by world renowned artist and architect, Charles A. Platt as a private home. The estate features original detailing including the paneling, fireplace mantel, painted beam ceiling and herringbone floor. This spring, the sought-after home will invite twenty of the world’s leading interior designers to decorate individual rooms before opening to the exhibit public

The Show House, recognized as the nation’s most highly anticipated design event of the year and the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’s leading fundraiser, will be open to the public for one month beginning on May 2nd. Directions for designers interested in applying for the 2017 Kips Bay Decorator Show House can be found on their website.

Proceeds from the Decorator Show House, which attract an estimated 15,000 visitors each year, benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club which offers innovative after-school and enrichment programs for more than 10,000 youth, ages 6 through 18, in ten locations throughout the Bronx. The esteemed organization has raised over $20 million to date.
