KDHamptons Featured Photographer: Drew Doggett's Extraordinary Horses of Sable Island!

SHARE

Sable Island, often called “the graveyard of the Atlantic” due to its history of shipwreck, is a remote island and home to little more than the herd of 400 wild horses that roam freely over the island’s 26 rugged miles. If you have never seen photos of these mystical, beautiful horses, you must check out Drew’s work. Perfect for a Hamptons home, Doggett’s photos capture the incredibly human, sensitive, and loving relationship the Sable Island horses share with one another.

Focusing on form, musculature and movement as well as the condition of the ever-changing landscape, “Discovering the Horses of Sable Island,” by Drew Doggett, tells a story of power and beauty.  The Collection consists of 48 black and white or sepia-toned images with archival pigment prints, signed by the artist. On Friday, August 2nd [6PM-8:30PM], Drew’s breathtaking photos will be exhibited at Sylvester & Co. in Amagansett at a party hosted by Samantha Yanks, and Erica Domesek [author & creator of the PS- I Made this brand].

Trained in fashion photography, Drew Doggett has made a name for himself in the documentary and fine art world with his photography of some of the planet’s most unique and isolated indigenous cultures.  In 2012, his Omo: Expressions of a People collection was accepted into the Smithsonian African Art Museum’s photographic archives. Drew’s fine art photography is on display in major buildings and private collections around the world.
