This week, KDHamptons contributing fashion editor Carly Kenihan [above] shares Four Fall Style Obsessions to complete your country chic wardrobe.  She says, “Before we step into the winter holiday season (which basically starts this weekend), make sure you have your solid staples before making that list for Santa.  Here’s what you need right now for that haute Hamptons look: First up? PLAID: Invest in one or two plaid pieces for your closet to give your look that winter wow factor. Whether it’s this simple J.Crew scarf (only $34.50) or this bright and bold Equipment Wool Sweater ($268), you’ll need a couple go-to’s to feel like you’re in the holiday spirit.

2. A Sweater Dress. Find one that fits, flatters and flaunts you. Make it comfortable while you’re at it. I love this updated shirt/sweater-dress staple by Aqua. It’s less than $100 so you don’t have to feel bad for buying something for yourself during the holiday hustle and bustle. The best part? It can be worn from the office straight to drinks with friends. It can even be worn to that family dinner with your in-laws.

3. Fur.  Faux or for real, it will add some texture to your look. Not sure if you’re up for the exotic? Take baby steps and start with this $200 vest by 525 (great faux version here for $61) before goin for that floor length minx. Try it with a sweater & jeans like I did here, or layer it over a simple shift. It will add that cozy chic factor without overwhelming you.

4. Knee Socks. They might sound like a stranger to your adult closet, but they’ll quickly turn into your best friend. Whether you pair these Hue’s with mules like I did here for a fashion forward day, or wear these Free Peoples under your riding boots, they’ll add a little something and keep your outfit original.
