On Saturday, May 31, 2014, guests of the 5th Annual Southampton House Tour: “An Insider’s View,” will have the opportunity to experience extraordinary houses that truly illustrate Southampton’s unique architectural history – from Colonial days right up to the present. The tour takes place from 1:00 to 4:30 pm on Saturday, and is followed by a Champagne Reception sponsored by Sant Ambroeus at the Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Tickets are $95 in advance or $110 the day of the tour.

Here’s a sneak peek at what this year’s tour will showcase — we can’t wait!

Shinnecock Hills Classic Front Entrance by Kathryn Fee

THE SHINNECOCK HILLS CLASSIC
The house is perfectly sited atop one of those gentle rises that give Shinnecock Hills its name. Shingled and gracefully sprawling with porches and diamond-paned windows to catch the cross breezes of summer, it is perhaps the quintessential turn-of-the-century summer cottage. To complete the picture, a once working windmill stands its ground, artfully arranged as a guest house. A unique look into a 19th century post and beam house that was built by a Pastor for his two daughters, who attend a Southampton art academy, complete with a renovated windmill.

THE OCEAN VILLA
For sheer magnificence this estate, perched on nine acres between the Atlantic and Shinnecock Bay, is unrivaled. With its spectacular water views, its evocative shingle style architecture and 17,000 square foot interior, it is in the great tradition of Southampton’s most splendid Summer Colony mansions.

THE VILLAGE COTTAGE [below]
This charming village home is situated in a subdivision created by Designer Frank Osborne in 1914. When the current owner, a well-known New York City designer, first saw the home in 2008 – it was the light inside, the ease and character of the house, that stole his heart.

**In addition, the historic Dune Church [below] and The Thomas Halsey Homestead will be open. Refreshments during the tour will be served at the 1708 House.
