KDHamptons Beauty: Follow These 7 Sun Safe Spring Tips From MDSolar Sciences

SHARE

Now that the sun is peeking out in the Hamptons, it’s time to make sure you are using lots of sunscreen. Everyone knows the sun is the skin’s public enemy number-one, but a lot of us skip sunscreen in the spring. Finding a product that isn’t heavy, pore clogging, or filled with irritants is not always easy.  Faced with this knowledge, dermatologic oncologist Dr. Robert J. Friedman, a Clinical Professor at the NYU School of Medicine, with a commitment to advance the science of photo (sun)-protection and skin cancer prevention, founded and created MDSolarSciences™.

My favorite product is the ProVention-R™ Anti-Aging Complex, which delivers antioxidants, pigment lighteners, biomimetic moisturizers and humectants and science-based signaling peptides to dry weathered skin.

Formulated with the proprietary ProVention-R™ Antioxidant Complex, MDSolarSciences sun care and skin care products are formulated to bring the best in sun damage prevention to skin care, while diminishing many of the signs of photo-damage and photo-aging, such as a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkling, and skin discoloration.

MDSolarSciences Shares Seven Easy Sun Safe Tips to Follow:

1. AVOID SUN BETWEEN 10:00AM AND 4:00PM. Sunscreen is not a cure, it is an aid.

2. USE SUNSCREENS THAT ARE SPF 30 OR HIGHER AND HAVE BROAD UVA/UVB  PROTECTION. Sunscreens of higher SPF should be used by those who are particularly sun-sensitive.

3. APPLY SUNSCREEN 20 TO 30 MINUTES BEFORE SUN EXPOSURE. Apply correctly. Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours.

4. SUNSCREENS ALONE ARE NOT ENOUGH. Use hats and glasses, especially in bright light, and for reflected light from water,
sand, and snow.

5. PROTECT LIPS TOO. Your lips are no exception to sun damage. Apply sunscreen to your lips each day to protect them from dangerous ultraviolet rays.

6.  AVOID SUNBURN, SUNLAMPS, AND TANNING PARLORS. Tanning beds and sunlamps cause photoaging and significantly increase your risk of developing skin cancer. The Skin Cancer Foundation warns that using tanning beds equipped with sunlamps may expose your skin to up to 12 times the amount of UVA radiation than the actual sun emits each year.

7. EXAMINE YOUR SKIN ON A REGULAR BASIS. Take 10 minutes each month to perform a skin self-exam. Look for suspicious patches of skin and abnormal growths. Early detection of skin cancer can help you get treatment before it’s too late. Visit your doctor once a year for a professional exam.
