“A friend and I were recently reminiscing about how the Hamptons scene changes every few years,” shares Sag Harbor summer resident, Deanna Juliet.  “A few years ago, I definitely would have said some of the ongoing summer highlights were Bridgehampton Polo, La Superica themed parties, and Georgica Mondays, but this summer was all about the Montauk beach, surf, and music scene.”  Deanna shares her Five Minute Summer Diary with KDHamptons, below:

KDHamptons: How long have you and your family been coming to the Hamptons?

Deanna Juliet: I summer in Sag Harbor. My parents built our house when I was 10 years old. I’ve spent entire summers there most of my life until I recently started working as a Financial Analyst in the city for Bank of America, so now I am a “weekender”.  My mom is an interior designer in the Hamptons, so our house is beautiful with extra personal touches.  She has “the eye” and has been summering in the Hamptons most of her life, so she understands the Hamptons style and knows how to mix the perfect amount of class and beach.

KDHamptons: What were your three favorite moments of Summer 2015?

Deanna Juliet: 1.  I went to the Barcelona Boat Party in a different fashion than previous years. For anyone not familiar, this party happens the first Sunday of August every year and the location is not disclosed until a few days before so it gets around solely by word of mouth. This year, I went on a sailboat and decided to camp out on the beach with tents after the party ended. My friends and I turned it into an adventure rather than just going to a boat party.

2.  A fun cultural moment for me this summer was going to a Polo player’s barn for an Argentinian Asado (BBQ) and Mate tea in Bridgehampton. We had a great time and I especially enjoyed sharing stories about Argentina, a place I was lucky enough to study in Winter of 2013.

3. The Hamptons has many charity events every summer benefitting some wonderful organizations. My favorite charity event I attended this summer was “Hamptons Happening” for the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. It takes place annually at the Fishel’s family estate in Bridgehampton, and attendees are able to go around to different tables at the event and taste food from a wide selection of Hamptons restaurants/food providers.

KDHamptons: What were your favorite Hamptons restaurants this summer?

Deanna Juliet: Sunset Beach makes me feel like I am in St. Barths.  I love going on the boat there with my family during the day, or watching the incredible sunsets with friends. My go-to restaurant is 75 Main for a great summer salad and some lunchtime people watching. It is also a great restaurant for a trendy dinner before a night out on the town with my girlfriends.  I like Saint Ambroeus for dinner, but also for either an espresso or cappuccino at the bar.

KDHamptons: Do you spend time here in the fall? What are your favorite things to do?

Deanna Juliet:  I am able to sneak out on occasion, September is the best month for a lot of water sports, which are my favorite. Windsurfing in September is the best since the winds pick up due to hurricane season. Also, the water is still warm in the early fall, so wakeboarding and waterskiing are enjoyable with no wet shirt needed.
