KDHamptons Garden Diary: Check Out Dr. Kot's Flower Pots... Get Your Green Thumb In Gear For Spring Planting

SHARE

Dr. Kot is ready to get his hands dirty in the garden.....

Looking for a fun weekend project? It’s time to plant your pretty flower pots for porch and poolside flair. Thank goodness it seems that winter’s chill is behind us and most of the local farm stands are packed with daisies, pansies, hyacinth and more. Plus, it’s not supposed to rain all weekend, so get your green thumb in gear!

Most Hamptonites know that my husband is a great doctor, but few people know he is an obsessive gardener. This is good news for me, because I get to enjoy the flowers he plants around our Water Mill home. Each season, Doc can’t wait to plant his spring flower pots for the wrap around porch at our Victorian farmhouse.  He heads to Halsey Farm nursery on Deerfield Road in Water Mill to fill his car with multiple flats of flowers and somehow completes his project in about two hours time.  This year at Halsey, he opted for a mix of: the Easter Bonnet Pastel Mix, Lavender Frost Serenity, Panol Blotch Mix Pansies, and Ranunculus.

Need more inspiration? Here are some gorgeous porch pots at the Living Room at c/o The Maidstone in East Hampton. I love the metal pots they use in different geometric shapes.
