Along with many other philanthropic Hamptonites, KDH headed into the city last Thursday, June 14 for the Wildlife Conservation Society Gala at the Central Park Zoo. The gala highlighted the organization’s extensive commitment to the Southern Cone, where WCS has been at the heart of some of the greatest wildlife conservation achievements of the region.

Southampton artist, philanthropist, and vice chair of the event, Sharon Kerr was my glamorous hostess, dazzling the crowd in a strapless Oscar de La Renta mermaid gown with a terrific train!

My dashing dining partners at Sharon’s table included: Prince Lorenzo Borghese and his gorgeous date, author of Southern Charm Tinsley Mortimer, Susan Johnson and Brian Socia From Saks Fifth Avenue,  Hamptons real estate powerhouse Susan Breitenbach & her daughter Samantha, and Dr Larry Schecter with his Doris.

Sharon shares about the big night, “It was glorious, crisp and clear evening….fitting to bid the retiring president of WCS, Steven Sanderson a heart felt “Thanks” for all his passion, dedication and hard work on behalf of the WCS. A perfect party night to bring out the best in fashion and fun! Please check out Wcs.org to see all the great work this organization is doing around the world!”

The glam black-tie affair began as sun started to set on the sea lion habitat with cocktails and canapés. In a nod to the events theme, bottles of Chilean and Argentine wines were served to guests taking in the sea lions’ adorable featured performance with their trainers.

Preston Bailey designed the most gorgeous table top decor packed with white polo roses, lush hydrangea, and a touch of mossy leaves~ all surrounding two sweet penguins! KDH shared some Hamptons dish over dessert with Mike Vilensky, a dashing Wall Street Journal lifestyle writer, whose parents have a home in Sag Harbor.

As we all left the gala dinner, the young patrons portion of the benefit kicked off in style with an army of beautiful sun-kissed  girls donning slinky designer dresses, diamonds, and teetering around the seal tank in six-inch Louboutin heels…not surprising~ a gang of handsome hunks followed in tow…..grooving to Nicki Minaj!

The annual gala is one of the city’s more important philanthropic events and raises a great amount of funds to foster conservancy and recognize leaders in the field. **For more information on the Wildlife Conservation Society please visit: www.wcs.org

Southamptonite Sharon Kerr served as vice chair of the event, with Susan Breitenbach, Samantha Breitenbach and Kelli Delaney (moi!)

I wore a flowy floral Haute Hippie dress (my favorite place to shop in Southampton).

Jean Shafiroff’s french lace cobalt blue lace train was stunning…but not to be outdone by Sharon Kerr’s lipstick red Oscar de la Renta gown!

Author Tinsley Mortimer with her handsome prince, Lorenzo Borghese.

Tinsley and I chatted about her debut novel, Southern Charm, and her current book tour. Loved her silver leather dress by Rafael Cennamo [not sure if the photo bombers in the background agree!]

Legendary lensman Patrick McMullan and Southampton philanthropist Jean Shafiroff.

Sharon carried a Bottega Venetta woven silk clutch, while I opted for a gold metallic Fendi number…

Fashion photographer Mark Borthwick, with debonair Adam Glassman [right] Creative Director of “O” the Oprah Magazine.

The seal lions put on a stellar show for the fancy guests.

KDH was obsessed with these mini toasted brioche BLT’s with pesto sauce.

Preston Bailey’s table top decor was so charming and pretty.

The gorgeous young patrons arrive in style….and Chanel, and Prada, and Missoni….
