KDH OBSESSION: Being Beach Blonde

SHARE

When KDH made the big permanent move to Southampton last year, I was on a mission to find a great local colorist. Having been a loyal princess to NYC’s “King of Color”, Louis Licari for 15 years, the idea of searching for a new salon was as appealing as finding a new boyfriend! Louis’ gatekeeper, Enid O, came to the rescue, letting me know that her former salon mate,  Alison Postman, was now based in Easthampton, at M Salon. My blonde ambition has been saved!

Postman is an artist when it comes to her approach to color. For summer, she says, “I like a layered, pale, beachy blonde color. To achieve that, I use a combination of foiled highlights and hand painting to create different layers and shades of blonde. I love the color palettes of Clairol and Wella for this technique.”

Tress Trend: Alison tells KDH, “Last summer all the girls wanted Jennifer Aniston’s color, but now it’s Jennifer Lopez. The brunettes are going blonde!”

Tress Tip For Preserving Color:
*Hit the beach! Ocean water will keep blondes bright.
*Use Terax Crema deep conditioning treatment at least twice a week after shampooing to restore sun scorched strands and to build back a healthy shine.

Average prices are $200 and up. Alison works Tuesdays and Fridays only, so plan ahead!
