KDH Feast End: Long Island Restaurant Week Extends Through Sunday, November 18th To Aid Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts!

SHARE

The bi-annual and award-winning Long Island Restaurant Week will extend the Fall 2012 campaign through Sunday, November 18. The extension comes as a result of many potential diners who continue to recover from Hurricane Sandy and others who are conserving gas.

Participating restaurants will continue to offer a three-course prix fixe for $24.95 all night, every night they are open except Saturday when the menu must only be offered until 7 p.m. Diners are encouraged to call ahead to double-check with each restaurant.

Long Island Restaurant Week is a win-win for participants and consumers! Much of the island’s population is provided the opportunity to save money while dining and sample restaurants they might not otherwise try during a traditionally sluggish period. For more information, visit www.longislandrestaurantweek.com.

Over 80 extending restaurants – spanning Long Island’s 118 miles – will serve its own unique $24.95 menu with a minimum choice of three appetizers, three entrées and three desserts.

Here are some of KDHamptons favorite hotspots participating:

Hampton Bays – Cowfish and Rumba Inspired Island Cuisine;

Long Island Restaurant and Hospitality Group has reached out to all participants with a list of charitable opportunities through Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.com), a network where Hurricane Sandy charity organizations can be identified. A specific charity, Lifts All (www.liftsall.org), was also recommended. Participating restaurants, that we know have already taken the initiative to help, include the following:

*Muse in the Harbor – Donating 10 percent of proceeds on Wednesdays to The American Red Cross

*Ciao Baby- Collecting donations of non-perishable items and supplies

*Ruvo Restaurant- Donating a portion of sales to the American Red Cross

*La Tavola- Donating a portion of sales to the American Red Cross

*Jackson’s- Proceeds of drink specials will go to the American Red Cross

Steve Haweeli, President of Long Island Restaurant and Hospitality Group, says, “As in years past, we will continue to make a donation on behalf of participating restaurants to The Interfaith Nutrition Network and the Family Service League – two extremely credible organizations on Long Island that are suited to serve people affected by Hurricane Sandy.”

Individual efforts, from several participating restaurants, include: cell phone charging, food and supply donations and, from Muse in the Harbor (Sag Harbor), 10 percent of Wednesday night’s proceeds go to The American Red Cross.
