KDHamptons contributing editor Lauren Thayer shares this feature on an important cause and special event happening on November 17th at the Bridgehampton South Fork Natural History Museum:

Hello Marine Meadows Supporters,

I’d like to share with you information about our First Annual Save Our Seagrass Fundraising Campaign and Celebration which will take place on Saturday, November 17th, from 5-8pm at the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton. My friend, Kim Barbour works for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program, who is working hard to save our local seagrass, an important part of our marine ecosystem.

The fantastic event will raise awareness and support for the program offering local harvested seafood, music, craft beer and cocktails. See below for more info, sponsorships and ticketing.

We strategically planned this event to take place after the opening of bay scallop season so we will be able to bring you freshly harvested bay scallops, along with a raw bar of local oysters and clams, and other delectable food offerings prepared by Tim Burke Productions. Attendees will also enjoy craft beer from Montauk Brewing Company and a selection of local wines. Entertainment will be provided by renowned jazz/surf rock trio the Moto-Wrays, and a special art exhibition featuring Marine Meadows inspired works created by students from the Ross School will be on display.

Various sponsorship packages and individual tickets are now available for purchase. All proceeds will be exclusively directed towards Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Marine Meadows Program to establish new eelgrass meadows in the Peconic Estuary, and allow for our educational workshops to be offered at the South Fork Natural History Museum in 2013.

I hope you will consider contributing to the fundraising campaign to ensure that habitat restoration work can continue on into the future. I look forward to seeing you at our SOS Celebration next month!

xx Lauren
