Love photography as much as I do? A great new photo exhibition by Southamptonite Mallory Samson called “Extraordinarily Ordinary!” is open to the public at the Southampton Historical Museum. An opening reception takes place on Saturday, June 15 between 4 and 6 pm. The exhibit remains on view through Saturday, August 2.

Mallory’s magical work has been published internationally. In this series, she has chosen her subjects from among the museum’s vast collection of antique objects – focusing on dolls, toys, tools, vintage clothing, china, silver, 19th-century keys, antique horse-show ribbons and other unique objects. A collage of about 150 of these images, ranging from five inches to five feet, will cover the museum walls in this exhibit which she created exclusively for the museum.

Mallory shares, “I was fascinated by the possibilities of using modern technology to capture and present objects from the past.” She noted that she conceived the exhibit after realizing that the museum’s unique archives could be preserved, captured and presented in a fresh way through photographs–by applying an “untraditional approach to traditional subjects.” Museum Executive director Tom Edmonds added that “We are delighted to have the museum’s unique collection of vintage objects presented by Mallory through her inspired vision.”
