With summer in full swing, In Balance Pilates Studio in Sag Harbor has debuted new classes to celebrate beach season. KDHamptons catches up with longtime Sag Harbor resident, Lesa Salvani Director and Founder of In Balance Studio. In Balance Studio’s classes accommodate many different experience levels. Some of the new small group classes offered include Reformed in an Hour and the Phenomenal 50/50 Pilates Class. These classes provide a cost-effective way to receive more individualized attention during the workout.

For those who enjoy a slightly larger group setting, In Balance Studio’s popular staple Tremendous Tower Group Class provides a full invigorating body workout. Class takes place on the Tower utilizing the resistance tension of the springs, which combined with Pilates mat exercises target both major and supporting muscle groups. This makes for a challenging class which strengthens and stretches the entire body. For people who are new to Pilates, it is recommended you first take a few private Pilates classes to understand how the springs work and the basic methodology of the system.

cf09Reformed in an Hour is completed entirely on the Reformer, the most sought after Pilates apparatus workout, and the Phenomenal 50/50 Pilates is taught using the Reformer and Tower equally. Both classes lengthen and align the body, working the core in every movement. Knowledge of spring settings, how to handle the equipment and a basic understanding of cues and appropriate technique are key before sharing these dynamic small classes with others.
