History Meets High Style at East Hampton’s Antiques & Design Show

You know it’s peak Hamptons summer when everyone’s dressed to impress, sipping champagne under white tents, and casually shopping for 19th-century weathervanes and antique bamboo furniture. That’s exactly the vibe at the East Hampton Historical Society’s 19th Annual Antiques & Design Show Benefit, which took over Mulford Farm this past weekend—and it was so quintessentially East End.

Set on one of the most beautifully preserved colonial farmsteads in America, the event felt like a love letter to Hamptons history and timeless design. Friday’s Preview Cocktail Party was the place to be—locals, designers, and summer regulars mingled with icons like Katie Couric, Donna Karan, Nathan Lane, and Aerin Lauder. The turnout was huge this year, and the vibe? Historic garden party glam.

Over the weekend, more than 50 top-tier dealers brought out the best in vintage and mid-century home decor, including rattan lounges for your poolside patio, European lighting, coastal-inspired textiles, and enough Art Deco accents to make any Sag Harbor guest room swoon. Whether you’re styling your East Hampton estate or just looking for a conversation-starting mirror for your cottage, there was something for every kind of Hamptons home.

And let’s talk about the design cred—David Kleinberg, aka Hamptons interior design royalty, served as Honorary Chair, and the design committee read like a who’s who of the decorating world: Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, and Tom Scheerer. Honestly, only in the Hamptons do you run into your neighbor while admiring a French country armoire and debating which period lighting fixture pairs best with a cedar-shingled beach house.

This was more than just a shopping event; it was a celebration of what makes the Hamptons so special: style, history, and community. If you’re into design, décor, or just an excellent social scene with a side of antiques, this was the summer event to circle on your calendar.
