Good Morning Beautiful Bath Tub! KDH Makes Over Our Master Bath With A Mix Of Contemporary And Traditional Twists!

SHARE

All newlyweds go through some decorating wars when settling into “our” home and Dr. Kot & I are no exception! Merging his traditional Virginia horse country style with my contemporary style has been a challenge…..yet a fun work in progress! That being said~ when it came to the master bath: Victory is mine!

When I moved in, the master bath was paneled in wide pine planks and was painted a deep brick red.  Heavy gold framed landscape oil paintings hung on the walls, the vanity was made with natural knotty pine wood, and a sunken tub was built into a matching pine platform.

Here’s what the makeover entailed: the paneled walls were ripped out and replaced with Wedding Veil White painted bead board, stacked crown moldings were added, white wood window blinds, some of my favorite photographs I have collected,  a Cheviot porcelain claw foot tub, a white maple vanity with Carrara marble top, the big tub platform was ripped out and replaced with a custom Carrara base built for the tub, and of course…..a chic chandelier provided the finishing touch!

The best news? Husband loves it! [Now….onto the living room?]

Good Morning Beautiful Bath!
My new favorite candle is White Coral by Michael Aram. Perfect for bath time!
Good morning Faye! This is my favorite photograph: Terry O'Neill snapped this sunrise shot of Faye Dunaway at the Beverly Hills Hotel pool the morning after she won the Oscar for Chinatown. Faye is still in her hair, makeup, and heels from the night before and still looks stunning!
Good morning Eva! Sante D'Orazio took these gorgeous pix of Eva Herzigova on our Allure shoot years ago...
Michael O'Neall shot this photo of a newborn fawn's first step.
I had one of Mark's gold gilded mirrors painted a glossy white.
I mix shells from trips we go on with ones I find on Hamptons beaches. A sand dollar serves as a scooper for my bath salts!
This larger than life orchid photo packs a bold punch of pink in the white bath. My monogrammed towels are from the Elegant Setting in Southampton.
Waffled white hand towels from the Elegant Setting in Southampton.
My giant orchid from Lynch's in Southampton has lasted for eight months!
The surrounding farms provide a tranquil view!
