The teenage years can be tough:  Physical and emotional growth, anxiety, nutritional and societal transitions.  With adolescence and hormonal changes, the skin and hair need specific products to meet the needs of teenagers.  Introducing Spots & Stripes, a new range of earth-friendly and natural skin and body care specially formulated for the needs of tween and teen boys and girls (ages 8-16, but older teens are using it, too).

“I created the brand because I saw a gap in the market when my own daughters grew out of their natural baby products, but were too young to use adult or full-on teen products on their still-delicate skin,” says founder Charlotte-Anne Fidler, a former beauty and magazine editor.
“They didn’t really want to use the adult natural products either, because they’re opinionated Gen Z-ers!”

Enter Spots & Stripes, sustainably sourced, natural and free of parabens, phthalates, SLS, and other not-so-good ingredients.  The brand is already a runaway hit, capturing the “Best Skincare Product for Teens” at the Beauty Shortlist Awards, the Oscars for the beauty industry.

“My eldest daughter, Anouk, (pictured above), then 12, had grown out of her baby products  and I wanted something that would deal with her new needs; sometimes-greasy hair, sometimes-sweaty body, and the odd breakout,” Fidler added.  “I’d been very careful about what I’d used on her skin as a baby and child, looking for products that were gentle, natural and earth-friendly. But scanning the shelves and searching online, I found there was almost nothing to bridge the gap between the baby/young child products–which weren’t working anymore–and the teen-acne and adult products that were way too harsh for her still-delicate, child’s skin.

“So I decided to create the products myself. As a beauty editor, (British Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire and most recently US and UK Glamour), I’d tried a zillion brands:  I knew my stuff.  So I researched (which wasn’t easy, because there aren’t many studies on this age group), and persuaded one of the UK’s best natural manufacturers to take me on. I tested the formulas on my girls (Anouk, now 15, and Bo, 10), their friends, and the sons of my friends (that’s them all in the pictures). After two years of trying and tweaking, Spots & Stripes was born.

Spots & Stripes addresses the particular needs of tween/young teen skin and hair: Shampoos that will deal with greasy roots, washes for when they get sweaty, a spot zapper for the odd breakout and, coming soon, a completely natural deodorant.

The products are never tested on animals, only on adults and children, and the ingredients are of the highest quality; sustainably and ethically sourced.

Products that are formulated to be safe and gentle on tween/young teen skin, but still have the effectiveness this age group needs, because they are high-performance and full of clever ingredients, using 100% natural actives and 0% parabens, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), phthalates.

The perfect starter kit for looking good, and smelling even better. They’re gentle, because young skin is delicate, but they’re also full of super-smart ingredients to deal with tween skin and hair needs.

All of the products are made in the English countryside, where Fidler and her daughters call home.

Spots & Stripes promotes the healthy skincare regimes that will see children through their teens and into adulthood, and give them the confidence and well-being that goes with good skin.
