ALMOND RESTAURANT OFFERING MEATLESS MONDAYS!

Almond now serves no meat treats of vegetarian options every Monday. A meatless three-course prix fixe will be offered for $28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday’s “Plat du Jour” will be Le Grand Aioli, vegetables with garlic-scented mayonnaise.

Meatless Mondays (www.meatlessmondays.com) is a global initiative, whose goal is to help reduce meat consumption by 15-percent in order to improve personal and environmental health.

In the spring of 2001, co-owners Jason Weiner and Eric Lemonides opened Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton offering reasonable prices, bold fare, friendly service and an attractive dining room reminiscent of a Parisian bistro. The affordable newcomer quickly became one of the top spots in the Hamptons for locals, celebrities and tourists.

“Almond has brought French bistro to the Hamptons,” stated Joanne Starkey of the New York Times. Last summer Almond moved to a fantastic new location smack dab in the center of town in Bridgehampton, taking over the old burger restaurant called Ocean.  The guys quickly put their trademark Frenchy flair to the design Et Voila!~ the new Almond has been super busy throughout the off-season…

Executive chef Jason Weiner’s menu is comprised of many French bistro favorites, with an emphasis on local produce and local seafood, due to Weiner’s long-standing relationships with local farmers. Traditional escargot with a divine sauce of garlic and Pernod; Steamed Black Mussels with shallots, white wine and parsley; and a spirited salad of Arugula, Baby Beets and Roquefort with candied walnuts are a few sample starters that win praise.

Fun Fact: The restrooms are wallpapered with torn out old pages from all different famous cookbooks which KDH thought was a cool idea!
