This summer, a Hamptons favorite Carissa’s The Bakery has opened a second location in East Hampton. The new, 3,500-square-foot location features an expansive production area, bakeshop and restaurant. As guests enter, the bakery’s work space is on full display, lined with racks of house-milled juniper baguettes, honey oat loaves, sweet potato brioche and Carissa’s signature pickled rye bread, served hot out of the oven. Pastries and viennoiseries ranging from apricot-almond snails and raspberry-rosewater croissants to polenta cakes and crispy palmiers are mixed, shaped, rolled, laminated and baked by a dedicated team led by head baker Aubrey Johnson. These, together with a menu of breakfast, lunch, and house-made gelato, are available either to go or to enjoy in the beautiful bakery, and outdoor patio. Later this season, the cafe will transform into a full-service restaurant for dinner, featuring a daily-changing menu and wine + cocktails! The first Carissa’s location at 68 Newtown Lane will continue to offer its signature items.Hours: Open 8am-5pm (every day except Tuesday). Note that they’re offering their morning menu until 2pm and wine, coffee, sandwiches and all bakery goods until close, 5pm.
