Serena and Lily work with a Maasi Mama.

Designing duo Serena & Lily headed to Africa for some design inspiration for their colorful current collection. Kenya, Swaziland, South Africa, and Kenya First stop: Maasai Mara, a vast wildlife sanctuary in southwestern Kenya where Serena was introduced to the beautiful beaded handicraft of the “Maasai Mamas.” Vibrant textiles were tracked down in the souks of Zanzibar and turned into pretty throw pillows, and hand-woven bright baskets are made with recycled telephone wire by women in rural South Africa.
