Almond Restaurant will host its fifth “Artist & Writers Night” on Tuesday, March 5th at 7 p.m. This month, the evening will be hosted by novelist and editor Susan Scarff Merrell and will focus on the life and work of author Shirley Jackson.  A family style three-course menu created by executive chef Jason Weiner will be served. The cost is $40 in advance and $45 at the door with a glass of local wine or craft beer, tax and gratuity.

The evening will be a chilling introduction to the life and work of the first grande dame of horror Shirley Jackson. She is best known for her short story, “The Lottery,” about a ritual stoning in a bucolic Vermont village. Stephen King said that she had written one of the two great novels of the supernatural and that she “never had to raise her voice.”

“Through this event, we’re continuing the time-honored Hamptons tradition as an incubator of creativity,” chef Jason Weiner explains. The evening will give artists and writers the opportunity to gather together to exchange thoughts and ideas while enjoying a great meal.
