Last week, the Southampton Animal Shelter [SASF] in Hampton Bays joined forces with three rescue groups in “Operation Puppy Love,” a massive dog and cat rescue from Puerto Rico at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton.  The shelter took in 55 dogs and 3 cats from a dire situation in Puerto Rico on February 13th. All of the lucky animals arrived safely, being carried off the plane one by one by welcoming volunteers and on to a better future. Their first snow (and freezing cold) made a few of them pretty curious! Meet some of the lucky gang who made the flight below:

The animals will be medically cleared & behaviorally evaluated & ready in a few days to meet friendly families who are willing to give them a forever home. Please spread the word with family and friends and help the shelter place these dogs quickly.  “There are five puppies with their mom. They are Satos mixes. Some look like lab mixes, there’s a terrier, collie, hound and one who was scooped off the street starving that our volunteer Kate had to have.  She is going to need more TLC than the others,” shares public relations director, Linda Goldsmith.
