With holiday entertaining on everyone’s minds, KDHamptons has a great new resource for a curated celebration: a new Cocktail Club Subscription Box Service called Shaker & Spoon. Shaker & Spoon brings the craft cocktail experience to your home.  A monthly subscription box service launched to give you the knowledge and confidence to go beyond just pouring a glass of wine or opening a beer, Shaker & Spoon gives you the tools to create the perfect mixed drink for any occasion. Each month’s recipes call for the same type of liquor, so that all you need to make 12 cocktails [3 different styles] is the kit and one bottle of alcohol. Pricing starts at $40.00 per month, 3-months at $110 – skip or cancel anytime.

Shaker & Spoon also offers resources on their site such as how-to videos and a glossary, so you  can make the drinks successfully and gain confidence in your mixology skills. The recipes come from featured bartenders-in-residence. First up is Michael McAvena, the beverage director at the wildly popular Pub Royale in Chicago, who can spend 20 minutes talking about whether to stir a drink 6 times or 10.

Each box contains: all of the ingredients (other than the alcohol) producing their specialty syrups in-house and always aiming to source the best ingredients of everything else. Everything you need can be found in the box including: syrups, bitters, garnishes, citrus and recipe cards; you just add the liquor. Shaker & Spoon recommends a bottle to go with each box, but their drinks are tailored to work across the board with both top shelf and well liquors. Each recipe also covers a different style of cocktail-making. You’ll shake, stir, muddle, and more. Mainly, though, they want to teach you to think about what makes a drink work and what makes it taste good.
