On Saturday, August 11th, the Ille Art Gallery opened their newest exhibit, “Seating Arrangements.” This quaint gallery is tucked behind the town of Amagansett just right of Main Street. The exhibit featured just what you would expect: “Seating Arrangements” of all types: modern, comfortable, wooden, plastic, clay, photographed, suspended, and painted chairs.
The show featured both local and distant artists, with the collection curated by one of the contributing artists~ Mary Heilmann. Kurt Gumaer, Don Christensen, Dianne Blell, and Daniel Weiner also added to the collection.
Between all the artists, almost every medium was used to create simple and extravagant chairs. Kurt Gumaer displayed homey woodwork with his tree trunk stools. Mary Heilmann used an eclectic combination of color and patterns to show her modern chairs and stools. Daniel Weiner used apoxie as the melting material in his sculptured chairs and seats, creating a beautiful and refreshing sight of swirled color.
KDHamptons intern, Katrina Garry (above with Dad, Bill), attended the opening of the show!
With a cool summer breeze floating through the window and the setting sun splashing a gorgeous orange glow on the white walls of the gallery the night itself was art.
